Why is Boba Tea so Popular?

Boba tea was discovered by Liu Han-Chieh and Lin Hsiu Hui in Taichung. In the 1980s. Lin Han-Chieh in Taiwan came up with the idea of milk tea after observing how the Japanese added milk to their coffee. This new ideal worked as the milk tea boosted the popularity of his teahouse massively, and Lin Hsiu Hui, who was a product manager at the time, made the pearls by merging tapioca ball and sweetened pudding with the iced tea. Since then, the fame of boba has spread from Southeast and East Asian countries to directly the US and Canada.

Boba Tea is very popular because of so many reasons, including the following.

Unique Taste

Boba tea has a very sweet taste, and it is paired with the chewy tapioca balls that actually renders the unique element that boba provides. You can say that drinks like cold coffee or juice have the same constant texture, but with boba, the pearls provide a sort of “break” from the same boring uniformity. There is no other special drink like it. Shops usually have a great range of flavors to pick from as well. This includes the exotic ones, such as matcha, taro, lychee, guava, passion fruit, and even avocado boba. No other drink provides such foreign flavors?

Variety

Apart from pearls, boba companies offer a great variety of toppings like jelly (of many flavors), chia seeds, cream/crema, popping boba, and aloe vera. Also, there are myriad flavors to choose from. Boba tea is a perfect drink for adventurous flavors.

Aesthetic

The matter of fact is, a lot of people love having boba simply for the aesthetic appeal (aka for Instagram). People even have their entire accounts dedicated to boba and is aesthetic (@bobaaddiction, @livinthebobalyfe, etc.). Especially when you are drinking this unique tea in the boba tea bottles. These bottles for boba tea are even more aesthetic and looks ideal for posting pictures in. These are durable and economical, as well. They are perfect for taking anywhere and are spacious enough to store a lot of tea for your long journeys.
